The Dillon Cubs ran away from the Anaconda A's to live to play another day at the Southern A Distcict tounney on Friday in Three Forks.

Dillon's Jace Fitzgerald singled home Colin Herman in the bottom of the sixth inning to clinch the 13-6  mercy-rule victory for the Cubs, the no. 5 seed in the eight-team tourney.

The Cubs got a strong, complete-game pitching performance from Cole Pulliam, who seemed to pick up steam as the game progressed on a sweltering day.

With a 10-0 loss on their ledger from Thursday's tourney opener, the Cubs needed to win today against the eighth-seeded A's to remain in the double-elimination tourney.

Next up for the Cubs, another do-or-die game on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. against the  third-seeded Butte Miners. The winner will move on to a second Saturday game at 5 p.m. for the chance to keep playing on Sunday, the tourney's final day.
