Area ice rink updates

After working through some difficult weather and ice conditions, the Dillon Amateur Ice Hockey Association has reopened its rink at Christ Kraft Park on Overland Road in Dillon, though the group advises anyone skating there to keep an eye out for thin or cracking ice. Lights at the facility will be shining 4:30–9 p.m., with a warning dimming a half-hour before they shut off. Anyone looking for more information or interested in volunteering to help maintain and expand the facility should call Mike Morrow at 406-925-1644.

The mini skating rink that the City of Dillon maintained in Jaycee Park last winter looks to be closed for this winter due to tears in its liner.

The skating pond at Bannack State Park has enjoyed decidedly more stable conditions and continues to offer skating and skates in kids and adult sizes on weekend days 11–4 p.m. People are advised to call the park office at 406-834-3413 to check on current ice conditions before traveling to Bannack to skate.
