Path of Life

To the editor,

In a Tribune letter January 26, local Michael Francisconi struggled with the concept of humans making life “meaningful” in each one’s brief time of opportunity. According to him, one’s societygoal should be to choose a “scientific, compassionate worldview grounded in humanist philosophy.” May we kindly inquire of him: What success has his own humanist radical lifestyle-choices in communistic endeavors made life more meaningful for others? Sorrowful consequences?

What the humanists avoid, of course, is the plainly evident fact that a personal, all-wise, Almighty God has brought this world into a Reality of Existence. The longer I live, the more simple and sensible is the comment of the Bible’s Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of Him from the Creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made . . . so that they are without excuse.” Who are the “they”? Now for over a hundred years it surely includes the humanists and the communists -- both groups working diligently in education, in politics, in the military to eliminate the knowledge of God from society!

Every time my elderly body has a new affliction, I marvel at the new things I discover among my multiplied nerve, muscle, and organic systems -- those “things that are made by Him”! But the humanists regard themselves as “gods”, imagining they can replace our Creator. They arrogantly label their “life” search meaningful, spitting at the biblical King David’s delight in Psalm 16:11, “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore!”

That “path of life” was reiterated by Jesus in Matthew 22:37-39, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This the First and Great Commandment, and the Second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.” It was Jesus’ great mission to our Earth -- to restore each person’s ability to obey and enjoy his/her relationship to our Maker -- through the gift of His sacrifice for sin on the Cross, culminating in providing His indwelling resurrected Spirit for the repentant believer.

Thus, ANY One, including Mr. Francisconi, can escape the false fruits of one’s own self-prideful efforts and TODAY enjoy a “meaningful life” of joyful love-bounties in Christ -- one continuing into the Eternal Ages!
