Nora Lee Jones Hilton 1936-2022

The world lost a pillar of love, light and service on Sept. 2, 2022 when Nora Lee Jones Hilton passed away surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at her home in Dillon, Montana. Born Nora Lee Jones on Dec. 27, 1936 in Malad, Idaho to Lester T. and Lillith Jones, she and her family moved to Dillon, Montana in 1950, where Nora Lee would live for 72 years, first as the daughter of a rancher, helping cook meals for the entire ranch staff, then as the high school sweetheart and wife of Richard Hilton.

As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all of her life, Nora Lee was married and sealed for time and all eternity to Richard in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on May 27, 1954. Together, they brought four children into the world, all born and raised in Dillon.

Nora Lee took her role as Grandma very seriously, radiating a warmth and selflessness that blessed the lives of all who knew her. A prolific quilter, she gave away hundreds of handmade blankets and quilts to family members and members of her church and community. She was a voracious reader and lifelong learner, she played the piano and organ, and she made homemade bread that could rival any bakery. Nora Lee was a natural caregiver and possessed a spirit of service that saw her devote much of her time on Earth helping others. Together with her husband, she volunteered at her church in numerous callings, including as temple worker, family historian, and high school seminary teacher. A person of unending compassion, Nora Lee bettered the lives and lifted the spirits of many.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Lorraine Court.

Nora Lee is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard Hilton; her four children, Richard (Lalove) Hilton, Kristine Hilton, Alan (Laurie) Hilton, LeAnn (Eric) Anderson; her brothers, Lester C. and Dallas (Sandy) Jones, and her sister Fern (Allen) Hill; as well as her 15 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren.
