The University of Montana Western men’s basketball team lost one, won one and made about as respectable a showing in another over the past week.

Playing in a tourney in La Grande, Oregon, the Bulldogs got on the wrong end of a 67-61 result with hosts Eastern Oregon University on Saturday, a day after topping Walla Walla University, 88-65.

Jalen Hodges paced Western with 38 points, while teammate Max Clark accumulated ten dimes for Western, which got a dozen rebounds from Colter Miller in the two games.

Freshman Ky Kouba recorded 19 points and 11 rebounds over the weekend to follow up his strong Frontier Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week performance the previous weekend in a pair of home wins over Yellowstone Christian College.

The Bulldogs fell on the road, 81-51, in an exhibition last Wednesday at the home of Utah State, a member of the Mountain West Conference.

Next up for the Bulldogs, a 3 p.m. rematch with Walla Walla tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Montana Tech Tip Off Classic in Butte, where Western will also take on Dickinson State on Friday, Nov. 5, starting at 4 p.m.
