The Dillon Lady Beavers volleyball team traveled to Butte on Thursday and defeated the Maroons for their first varsity victory of the season. Dillon swept the match in three straight games.

“Unfortunately for them, they had another COVID incident so we ended up playing mostly JV players,” said Dillon coach Susanne Valach. “They still agreed to play us which was awesome for us. We have been so low on games this year, it was just nice to have a game.”

Dillon was also affected by the COVID according to the coach, as senior setter Madi Ruegsegger missed the Central match due to a close contact quarantine. Ruegsegger returned to the team this week.

“We were without Madi so it was nice to see Lauryn Petersen step up in the setting position and Sage Hansen played straight varsity that night and did a really nice job,” pointed out Valach.

“Overall, we played pretty well in all aspects,” said the coach. “I do think our serving was the biggest struggle for them. When we had a good pass, our offense played well, which was nice.”

The Lady Beavers improved to 1-8 on the season and enters the final week of the regular season with a busy schedule. On Tuesday, the team was scheduled to travel to Corvallis. Friday Dillon hosts Livingston for their “Big Pink Night.” Dillon has tentatively rescheduled a postponed match with Hamilton for Saturday at Dillon’s B.W. Lodge Gym.
