Dillon’s Troy Andersen makes NFL splash

Tuesday, September 20, 2022

Dillon native Troy Andersen made his first big splash on national television for the National Football League Atlanta Falcons. Andersen, who played collegiately at Montana State, was drafted in the second round of last springs NFL draft by the Falcons. Through two games he has mostly played special teams and that is where he shone on Sunday in a game versus the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams. Andersen flew up the middle during a Rams punt attempt and blocked the punt. An Atlanta Falcons teammate picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown and narrowed Atlanta’s deficit to 31-25.

The rebuilding Falcons are 0-2 on the season with narrow losses to the Rams and to traditional power New Orleans Saints. The highlight of Andersen’s punt block was shown throughout the numerous sports highlight and networks throughout the rest of the day.
