The three qualified golfers at the State A Tournament at the Butte Country Club completed the two-day, 36-hole meet. Now it is on to next year.

Parker Puyear and Ray Morrison on the boys side and Kaylinn Turney on the girls side, were not expected to compete for top honors this year. But all three are sophomores, so Dillon coach Justin Roberts figures that the future of Dillon golf will improve.

“The kids were a little nervous going into it, but they all got through it and they all improved with their two-day totals,” said Roberts.

Puyear advanced to the final tourney for the second year in a row and feels Puyear’s 20 stroke improvement from last year gives inspiration for the other golf team members.

“Parker started out with a 56 on the front nine, and then finished out 42, 45, 44, that is something to build on,” said the coach.

“For Ray and Kaylinn, it was their first time at state and they struggled with nerves,” added the coach.
