Beaverhead County elected officials and departments will operate with restrictions due to Gov. Steve Bullock's shelter in place order and other restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Operations will be as follows:

Sheriff's Office and Jail

The entire courthouse has been closed to the public by the Beaverhead County Commissioners. This includes the Law Enforcement Annex. This closure is necessary to protect the health of staff and inmates. To speak to an officer or deputy, call dispatch at 683-3700 or 683-3701. If an emergency exists, call 911. Do not congregate in the vicinity of the front door of the Law Enforcement Annex.

The Dillon Police Department and the Beaverhead County Sheriff’s Office continue to be at full staff, and will respond to community needs. That may be by telephone. This includes those currently enrolled in 24/7 programs.

Clerk and Recorder

Effective Monday, March 30 to April 10, 2020, and due to Bullock's recent order, the Clerk and Recorder’s Office will limit hours from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. daily. Document recording will be done by appointment or through the e-recording process during those hours. Birth and death certificate applications can be found on the Beaverhead County website under the Clerk and Recorder’s Office. Staff will be available by telephone 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Elections Office

The Election Office will maintain regular hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. by appointment or telephone only. This is effective from Monday, March 30 to April 10, 2020.

Clerk of District Court

The Clerk of District Court office is open for business but closed to walk-in traffic.

Marriage Licenses and Passport Issuance are by appointment only. All attorney filings shall be submitted via email or fax. Certified copies may be requested via email and will be mailed. Pro Se filings are accepted via U.S. Mail. Filings will be processed when fees or a notarized Affidavit of Indigence are submitted and approved by the court.

All child support, court fines/fees, and other court-related payments shall be paid by a cashier’s check or money order and mailed to the court. No cash payments will be accepted.

Disaster and Emergency Services

Our staff will operate the Beaverhead County Incident Command System jointly with Public Health during this crisis. Please limit telephone calls to emergency only and use email; 406-596-1251,

The Planning Office is closed March 30-April 10. All deadlines for subdivision and floodplain decisions are suspended, per Bullock's directive dated March 24.

Solid Waste

The landfill is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 12-6 p.m. Sunday; call Larry Laknar at 925-9765.

Superintendent of Schools
