Bearing silent witness

Eighty silhouettes were on display Oct. 6 at Jaycee Park in recognition of the National Silent Witness Initiative, an effort to bring awareness to the epidemic of domestic violence. Each life-sized silhouette has the story of a real Montana domestic violence homicide victim behind it, and most victims are women. The rates of domestic violence and homicide are far higher in Montana than national averages, Breanna Belgarde of the Community Support Center said. J.P. Plutt photo
