A Dillon man arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman at the Bicentennial Apartments is facing additional charges after allegedly punching a Beaverhead County jailer.

Dustin Jansen, 27, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 25 for misdemeanor partner or family member assault by Dillon Police, Chief Jeremy Alvarez said. Police came to the house following an ambulance call.

Jansen was being moved between cells around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, when he allegedly punched detention officer Sean Ballard, Undersheriff David Wendt said. Officers and deputies responded to a call for assistance from 911 for the jail, and helped Ballard pin Jansen to the ground.

Ballard received minor injuries. Jansen may be charged with aggravated assault from the alleged incident. He is being held at Warm Springs for a mental health evaluation before appearing in court.
