Madison Co. Fair continues
The Madison County Fair will continue Friday through Sunday, Au. 11–13, on the Fairgrounds in Twin Bridges with NRA pro rodeo events, kids’ activities (including Bounce Off the Wallz), critters, food, magic, music (including shows Fri. and Sat. by the Exit 53 Band) and so much more. VC Art Show this weekend

Library float Sat.
The Dillon Public Library will hold a Friendly Fun Float Poker Run, from High Bridge to Barretts, on Saturday, Aug. 12. Registration will take place 9–11 a.m. Following the float, participants can enjoy a BBQ lunch, along with ladder ball, horseshoes and volleyball. Each poker hand costs $5, and participants need to bring their own boats or float tubes. For more information, call 683-4544.

The Dillon Farmers Market will continue to offer “the homegrown and handmade” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays through Sept. 23 in the Wells Fargo parking lot on the west side of Montana Street in downtown Dillon. SMAC Rummage Sale Sat.

The Southwest Montana Arts Council (SMAC) will hold a rummage sale at its new SMAC Art Center, 120 N. Montana St. in Dillon, on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Items on sale will include adult clothing, children’s clothes and toys, furniture and household items. Proceeds will go to benefit the Art Center, which will house Canvas ELC, an arts-based early learning center, and host Youth Art Workshops & Projects (free monthly workshops for local youth) and adult art workshops, as well as act as the headquarters for future Art Walks, and as home to SMAC’s board room and executive director’s office. Twin market Saturdays
The Twin Bridges Farmers Market will convene Saturdays through September from 9 a.m. to noon to offer baked goods, fruits, flowers and vegetables from local and Hutterite vendors in Main Street Park between the Firehall and The Old Hotel in Twin Bridges. Arts fest in Ennis Sat.

Tribal trads this weekend
Descendants of Native participants in the 1877 Battle of the Big Hole, Leroy Seth and Silas Whitman will serve as presenters at noon and 3 p.m. Friday–Saturday, Aug. 12–13 for the Big Hole National Battlefield’s 2017 Summer Speaker Series. A longtime professional pow wow dancer and singer, Seth will focus on pow wow and tribal dance, while Whitman will offer insights into tribal cultural practices and uses of natural resources like herbs and roots. Bannack State Park’s 2017 Saturday Education and Entertainment Series will continue on Saturday, Aug. 12, with Montana Towns: Then, Now and Tomorrow— an entertaining 2 p.m. presentation by historian Hal Stearns on the 134 incorporated small towns of Montana.
