WEEKEND WEATHER

Friday, May 12: The National Weather Service is forecasting a 50% chance of rain showers in the Dillon area today, with thunderstorms possible in the later afternoon—and that storms could be severe with hail and high, damaging winds. The high temperature is expected to be 71.

Friday night More rain showers likely, with the chance of precipitation at 70%. The low could get near freezing, with winds potentially gusting over 30 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy, with a 60% chance of rain or snow in the morning and thunder possible. Light winds and a high approaching 50.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a 50% chance of rain turning to a chance of snow after 3 a.m. Light wind and low temperature about 30, with little or no snow accumulation expected.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 55 and winds under 10 mph.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy with 20% chance of rain, changing at 3 a.m. to chance of rain and snow until 5 a.m., with a slight chance of snow after 5a.m. Low near freezing.

Vocal concert today
The Lark Quartet will offer a vocal performance 4:30–5 p.m. today, Friday, May 12 in the Band Room on the fourth floor of the University of Montana Western’s Main Hall.

Bannack Clean-Up Day Sat.
Bannack State Park will hold its annual Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers will help park staffers wash windows, paint fences and picnic benches, and perform other tasks to get the park ready for the summer season. The Dillon Cubs will host a doubleheader of seven-inning American Legion baseball games against the Butte Muckers at Cubs Can-Am Field at Ray Lynch Park in Dillon on Saturday, May 13, starting at 1 p.m.

NRA banquet Sat.
The local Friends of the NRA will hold its Annual Banquet on Saturday, May 13, at the University of Montana Western’s Keltz Arena, starting with a 5 p.m. Social Hour followed by a 6 p.m. Dinner. Tickets cost $40 per adult and $35 per child under 16, and are available in advance at the 3-D Store, Bitterroot Trading Post and Rocky Mountain Supply, or from any committee member. Out and About, the May 15–19 installment of the Southwestern Family YMCA’s Adventures in Afterschool Program, will offer children in grades K–5 the chance to get outside to enjoy fun, spring activities for five afternoons, no matter what the weather brings. Sr. Olympics early sign-up
The deadlines for gaining a discount for registering early to participate in this year’s Montana Senior Olympics is today, Friday, May 12 (with the final entry deadline May 22). The annual athletic extravaganza will take place June 15–18 in Polson, Ronan and Pablo, and include competitions in 14 sports—bowling, swimming, archery, basketball, cycling, badminton, golf, horseshoes, pickleball, racewalking, road racing, tennis, table tennis and track & field.
