Morrisroe captures Barrett Hospital trusteeship by wide margin Tuesday

1,187-622 in all-mail balloting

Easily outpolling his opponent in the county hospital district election concluded this week, Lawrence Morrisroe, a software development specialist, will be formally seated at the next regular meeting of the Barrett Hospital and HealthCare Board of Trustees.

Morrisroe won the won the election, 1,187-622, a margin of almost two to one. His opponent was Rich Wassall, a retired surety financial services professional.

Balloting was conducted entirely by mail, and votes were counted after the official 8 p.m. poll closing May 6. According to Debbie Scott, Beaverhead County Clerk and Recorder, 36 percent of the ballots sent out to registered voters were returned to be counted.

For the past three years, Morrisroe has been a director on the Barrett Hospital Foundation board. He replaces Tom Welch, who opted to retire as a trustee. The hospital trustees' next meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 28 in the BHHC board room.
