1930 - 2014
Doris Raph passed away Jan. 5, 2014 at Barrett Memorial Hospital in Dillon, Mont. She was born Oct. 13, 1930, in McMinnville, Ore., the only child of Lauren and Millie Kelly. Graduating from Shelby (Mont.) High School, Doris was united in marriage to Jack Tanner and they had four boys; Craig, Brent, David and John. They were later divorced.
As a young woman, Doris followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a registered nurse. It wasn’t long until her expertise and efficient work ethic became known. She worked at hospitals and for doctors in Shelby, Sheridan and Dillon, Mont.
Doris later married Eldo Raph. They moved to Dillon in 1970, where Doris continued nursing. She later joined her husband Eldo, as they operated the historic Dillon Implement/DI Hardware store for many years.
Doris enjoyed her family, friends and golfing, along with her Yorkie Terriers. During her later years, she was able to express her creative side through painting and ceramics.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Eldo Raph. She is survived by her son Craig and his children, Joshua, Jenny, Jeremy and Jody; son Brent (Susie) and children, Jessica and Brandon; son David and children, Tessa Coleman and Anthony; and son John (Patricia) and children Christine, Jordan, Kaylee and Sierra.
Doris had many good friends in Dillon and elsewhere. Many thanks to Sarah Binum, and her sisters Bette and Lila and her husband Albert for being with her at the end. Also, Annabelle, Tennie and other neighbors and friends that supported Doris.
Doris was loved by her four sons and will be greatly missed by all.
Cremation has taken place and a private family service to spread the ashes will take place during the summer of 2014. Condolences can be sent to 351 Lupine Place, Pagosa Springs, CO 81147. Donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
