Dillon, Billings Central get ready to face off in third straight state title game

Saturday, Dillon faces Billings Central for the Montana Class A state football championship at 1 p.m. at Daylis Stadium in Billings.

It will be the third consecutive meeting in the title game between the two schools. Last year, Central won, 37-7, and the year before Dillon took the title, 44-10.

One of both of the two teams have played for the title in 12 of the past 14 seasons. Over that span, Dillon has won five of seven championship games. Billings Central will be playing in their seventh consecutive state championship game and eighth since 2004. Central has won two titles, both times over Dillon.

It will be Central’s Wing-T offensive attack and focus on the run versus Dillon’s balanced offensive approach. Traditionally, both teams have excelled on the defensive side of the ball.

“They were the better team last year and we were the better team the year before,” said Dillon coach Rick Nordahl. “If we want to win a state championship, we’ve got to make things happen Saturday. It is down to what these kids do in execution.”
